Spamghetto: Junk Mail Wallpaper Covering

Spamghetto [todo.to.it] is a spam-based wall covering shown at the Design Crisis exhibition in Torino, Italy, based on up to 2000 different junk-mail subjects scraped from Gmail mailboxes. With the crisis happening, the aim of the project is to recycle in order to turn the ugly spam into a beautiful wallpaper, before it is too late: "someday a brilliant scientist will find the definitive solution to eradicate from the web the bittersweet pleasure of spam. Spamghetto is not like your grandma's wallpaper."

The wallpaper is generated using a generative software, so that the design can adapt to the specific dimensions of the space.

So far, we had wallpapers made out of New York Times HeadlinesFrench phrasesand Nasdaq stock quotes.

SwarmSketch

Welcome to SwarmSketch: Collective sketching of the collective consciousness.

SwarmSketch is an ongoing online canvas that explores the
possibilities of distributed design by the masses. Each week it
randomly chooses a popular search term which becomes the sketch
subject for the week. In this way, the collective is sketching what
the collective thought was important each week. A new sketch begins
after one week, or after the previous sketch reaches one thousand
lines, whichever comes first.

Each user can contribute a small amount of line per visit, then they
are given the opportunity to vote on the opacity of lines submitted by
other users. By voting, users moderate the input of other users,
judging the quality of each line. The darkness of each line is the
average of all its previous votes.

Welcome to the 5th edition of The Influencers!
Curated by Eva and Franco Mattes aka 0100101110101101.ORG and Bani,
The Influencers is a cult festival exploring unconventional weapons of
mass communication. Over the past six years The Influencers has been
defined as a gallery of unclassifiable projects, an investigation on
guerrilla communication, a demonstration of present-day science
fiction, a talk show you won't see on TV. The Influencers is a three
intense days event spent interweaving tales of subversion,
manipulation and the transformation of live elements of contemporary
culture.

See you all in Barcelona!
